Haven House
Since 1979, Child & Family Services Haven House has provided safe, confidential
services for victims of domestic violence. A broad range of residential and non-residential
services help victims interrupt the cycle of abuse and create lives free from violence.
Haven House provides victims with the resources needed to rebuild their lives, and
children are taught skills to cope with family crises and learn non-violent forms
of conflict resolution.
What is Domestic Violence?
Domestic Violence is physical, emotional, or sexual abuse that
occurs within the context of the family household. The abuser can be someone who
lives with you or has a familial or intimate relationship with you...spouse, lover,
parent, child, or any family member.
Domestic violence is about power and control.
In some cases, victims of abuse live in constant fear although they may never have
been physically assaulted, as abusers can use various methods of abuse to gain power
and control over their partner or family member.
