Divertimento: Heartlight 2008

What is Divertimento?

di•ver•ti•men•to \dĭ-vĕr'-tə-mĕn'tō\ n., [Italian, diversion] 1. a musical composition having several short movements in no fixed form; light and pleasing 2. an exceptional use of your time supporting the premiere family services agency in WNY

It's the theme of the 10th annual Child & Family Services Heartlight Gala! Turn on your Blackberry – or pull out your calendar – and save the date for Heartlight 2008!

Friday, October 17th is the night to join us at Kleinhans Music Hall for a spectacular menu of food and drinks catered by Oliver's Restaurant. This year we are pleased to offer a new, relaxed format of hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, allowing more time to mingle and enjoy the evening’s entertainment, auctions and delightful company, without the restrictions of a sit-down dinner. We are also happy to announce that Scott Levin, of WGRZ-TV, will return as our evening's emcee.

Because we are celebrating all forms of music, the evening's entertainment will include a variety of musicians ranging from Ensemble Saltarello, an exciting mixed consort of guitars led by Joanne Castellani; the Buffalo State Jazz Quartet; and pianist/singer Theresa Quinn, who will lead our guests in some fun competition with Name that Tune. In addition, there will be some enjoyable activities to test our guests' knowledge of music.

Kevin and Janet O'Leary, who are both very active in the Western New York community, are the honorary co-chairs of this year’s event. Kevin is the President of Parkview Health Services, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Child & Family Services, AIDS Community Services, and Just Buffalo Literary Center; is the President of the Board of the Heritage-Oak Foundation; and also serves as Vice Chair for the Board of Trustees for the Buffalo Seminary. Janet is a founding member of the Claudia Garvey Memorial Guild for the Kevin Guest House and a pastoral care visitor at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Since its inception, Heartlight has raised over $750,000 for the programs we offer to our community's children and families, and this year we hope you will be part of the fun. Look for your invitation at Summer's end, and we hope to see you on October 17th! Please contact Lynn Westcott at (716)335-7234 or LWestcott@cfsbny.org for further information.
